British Tourist Loses Leg in Egypt Shark Attack

A British tourist has lost his leg in a shark attack off Egypt's Red Sea coast, according to Egyptian authorities. The incident occurred on Saturday, with the shark biting off the 52-year-old man's leg. Police have launched an investigation into the attack.

The victim was rushed to a local hospital after the attack. The British embassy in Cairo has been informed and is providing consular assistance. The identity of the man has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

Egypt is a popular diving destination, but such attacks are rare. In 2010, a shark killed a 70-year-old German tourist while snorkelling in the same region. Authorities have not closed any beaches but are monitoring the area.
