A 46-year-old British man has died in a tragic incident at Gran Canaria Airport, cutting short a holiday before it had even begun.
The tourist, who had just arrived on a flight from Manchester, collapsed in the baggage reclaim area of the arrivals hall. Despite the immediate efforts of emergency services, he could not be revived.
Emergency Response
Paramedics rushed to the scene after receiving an alert around 1:30 PM local time. They performed CPR on the man for more than half an hour in a desperate attempt to save his life. Tragically, their efforts were unsuccessful, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Ongoing Investigation
Local police have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the incident. While the initial signs point to a natural cause, such as a sudden medical episode, authorities are following standard procedure to rule out any other possibilities.
The sudden nature of the tragedy has sent shockwaves through the airport. The Canary Islands, a perennial favourite for UK tourists seeking winter sun, are in mourning following the incident.
