A British woman has died after falling from a ninth-floor hotel balcony in Benidorm, Spain. Danielle Hall, 21, from Newcastle, was on holiday with her boyfriend and his grandmother when the incident occurred.
The tragedy happened at around 2am on Sunday, just hours after the group arrived at the three-star Bermudas apartment hotel for a week-long stay. Local reports suggest Hall lost her balance while answering the door to a relative staying at the same hotel.
Spanish police have stated that the death does not appear to be suspicious. A police spokesman confirmed that Hall fell approximately 25 metres (six floors) and died at the scene. The British consulate has been notified.
A hotel spokeswoman expressed shock, stating that police, firefighters, ambulance crews, and forensic officers attended the scene. A judicial investigation has been launched, but authorities are treating the death as an accident.
