A British man has died after falling from a second-floor balcony in Ibiza, five years after surviving a similar fall at the same resort. The 35-year-old was impaled on a parasol pole in a near-fatal incident in September 2018, requiring rescue by police and firefighters.
The man lost his life in the early hours of Tuesday this week after falling from an apartment block in the party resort of San Antonio. Police discovered drugs in his bedroom following the tragedy. The apartment is located above a British supermarket and opposite the O Beach Club, co-owned by Gary Lineker's brother Wayne.
Full autopsy results are pending, but police sources believe the man may have been under the influence of drugs at the time of the fall. The alarm was raised around 3:15am, and initial callers reported a man lying unconscious on the pavement, but he was already dead when emergency services arrived.
It is unclear whether the man was on holiday or working in San Antonio. The incident follows the death of John McKenna, 22, from Carlisle, who died after falling from a hotel in the same resort on June 23.
