If you asked me where you can have the ultimate Mexican beach getaway, I would not hesitate to say Cancun. Flawlessly placed in the heart of the Mexican Caribbean, its powdery beaches and clear waters create the perfect setting for sun-filled days where worries fade into the horizon. Beloved by families and couples, it is also a top destination for groups – from large business conventions to bachelor or bachelorette parties and, yes, spring breakers.
Many of Cancun's top hotels (like Kempinski and JW Marriott) are concentrated around the Zona Hotelera, conveniently located near restaurants, nightclubs, and shops; while others stand in the surrounding Riviera Maya area. As one of the most popular destinations in the country, Cancun has some tourist traps which will tout you over-priced tours or less-than-original crafts. What is the best month to travel to Cancun?
With a privileged location on Mexico's Caribbean coast, Cancun has warm temperatures year-round. The winter season (between December and April) is the most popular for tourists, with snowbirds escaping the cold and locals making the most of Christmas and Easter breaks. Summer brings another peak – as well as higher temperatures and humidity. While the rainy season (between June and November) sees showers and humidity, it also means there are smaller crowds and lower prices.
What currency do I need?
