Bamburgh, a village in Northumberland, has been crowned the UK's best seaside location for an impressive sixth year in a row by travel experts at Which?. The village scored an overall destination score of 84% and received five stars for its beach, seafront, and scenery in a survey of over 5,300 people.

Which? surveyed over 5,300 people about their experiences of UK seaside destinations over the past year. Respondents rated destinations on criteria including beach quality, scenery, food and drink, accommodation, and tourist attractions. Bamburgh scored highly in all categories, securing the top spot.
One visitor, giving a 5/5 score, enthused: 'I honestly cannot think of a single negative thing to say about this beach. It is genuinely one of the most impressive stretches of coastline I have visited. The entire area is spotlessly clean, the dunes are absolutely lovely, and the beach itself is so vast that even on a busy day it never feels crowded.'
Bamburgh's Appeal
Bamburgh is known for its historic castle, which has been featured in Hollywood films, as well as its traditional pubs, restaurants, and the Grace Darling Museum. The village offers a timeless escape from daily life, with picturesque architecture and a stunning coastline. Another Trip Advisor reviewer noted they 'loved every moment' of their trip and were unsurprised by Bamburgh's continued top ranking.
North East Dominance
Runner-up in the Which? rankings for 2026 was Tynemouth in North Tyneside, with an overall score of 82%. Tynemouth received 5/5 for its seafront, pier, and food and drink, with one visitor praising its 'wonderful fish and chips.'
