Alton Towers Confirms Opening Date for New Bluey Ride in 2026

Alton Towers Resort has officially announced the opening date for its highly anticipated new Bluey-themed ride, set to debut in 2026. The world's first Bluey rollercoaster, titled Bluey the Ride: Here Come the Grannies!, will open to the public on March 28, 2026, perfectly timed for the Easter school holidays and spring visits to the Staffordshire theme park.

Celebrating with a Giant Bean-Can Portrait

To mark this exciting announcement, Alton Towers unveiled a spectacular giant portrait of Bluey, crafted from over 11,000 cans of beans. This creative artwork pays homage to grannies Janet and Rita from the beloved Australian cartoon, whose fondness for beans is a well-known detail among fans. The portrait measures an impressive 20x15 metres and took 18 hours to complete, displayed prominently on the park's lawn in front of the historic Alton Towers stately home.

Designed for Young Families and Pre-Schoolers

Natasha Spence, Events Director for Live Entertainment at BBC Studios, shared insights into the ride's development. She emphasized that the Grannies episode is an iconic part of the Bluey series, and the ride will bring this on-screen magic to life. Bluey the Ride: Here Come the Grannies! is specifically tailored for pre-schoolers and young families, offering a gentle journey through Bluey's back garden, immersing guests in the whimsical world of the Heeler family.

The hotel rooms include separate kids' sleeping areas with bunkbeds, bathrooms adorned with Bluey motifs, and suites that sleep up to seven people, complete with playroom-style spaces for imaginative play.

Bluey's Popularity Drives Theme Park Innovation

Bluey has skyrocketed to become the number one show on CBeebies in the UK, amassing over one billion streams on BBC iPlayer. Its global appeal among pre-schoolers has made it a natural fit for family-friendly attractions like those at Alton Towers. The resort's investment in this new ride underscores the enduring popularity of the Heeler family and their adventures.

With the opening date now set, families can look forward to a unique blend of entertainment and immersion, making Alton Towers a must-visit destination for Bluey enthusiasts and young children alike during the 2026 school holidays.
