Xbox brings backwards compatibility to PC with four classic titles
Xbox backwards compatibility arrives on PC with four games

Xbox has announced that backwards compatibility has officially arrived on PC, with four original Xbox titles now available to buy and emulate on the gaming platform. The feature is built directly into the Xbox PC app.

Available titles

The four games now available include: BLiNX: The Time Sweeper, Conker: Live and Reloaded, Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge, and Fuzion Frenzy.

Enhanced features

Players can scale resolutions up to 4x, enable V-Sync, and benefit from improved anisotropic filtering and anti-aliasing, among other graphics enhancements. Xbox is also set to bring achievements to these older titles on both PC and Xbox.

System requirements

Minimum requirements include an Nvidia GTX 950 or AMD Radeon RX 550 or Intel Arc A310 GPU, a 4-core/8-thread CPU (Intel Core i3-10300 or AMD Ryzen 3 3100 or AMD Ryzen Z2 A), 8 GB RAM, 4 GB video memory, Windows 11, and drivers as of January 2026. Recommended specs include a Radeon RX 6800S or Nvidia GTX 1070 Ti or Intel Arc A770 GPU, a 6-core/12-thread CPU (Intel Core i5-10400 or AMD Ryzen 5 3600 or AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme), 16 GB RAM, and 8 GB video memory.

Context

The backwards compatibility move is a rare win for Xbox amid recent headlines about 3,200 job cuts across its teams. It also contrasts with Sony's announcement that it will discontinue discs from 2028. There is no word on whether the PlayStation 6 will be backwards compatible, while Xbox's Project Helix is expected to continue supporting the full library of backwards compatible games.
