New National Lottery Powerball Game Launches in UK with £1.5bn Jackpot

The world's biggest lottery game has launched in the UK with tickets on sale for £4 for the chance to win a jackpot that has once rolled over to almost £1.5bn. The National Lottery Powerball is a US favourite but has now arrived overseas to give Brits the chance to win a huge prize.

Jackpot Details and Payment

With no cap on the prize amount, starting at £300m on Wednesday July 21, the cash won will be paid over 30 years, allowing winners to receive a higher total prize than they would if paid a one-off lump sum. The biggest Powerball jackpot played for in the US to date is $2.04 billion, won on 7th November 2022.

The National Lottery says that the overall odds of winning any prize on Powerball in the UK are 1 in 14, whilst the odds of winning the jackpot prize are around 1 in 292m.

Death Benefit

As the jackpot is paid over 30 years, there is a chance that the winner may die before receiving the entirety of their winnings. In this case, the remaining value of the prize will be paid as a lump sum to their estate. A lump sum death benefit will be based on the estimated value of the remaining Annuity Payments.

How to Play Powerball

Pick five numbers from 1-69 plus one Powerball number from 1-26, or go with a Lucky Dip for randomly selected numbers.
Add how many lines you want to play. Your play slip starts with 4 available lines but you can add more or remove lines if you wish.
Choose to play on Monday, Wednesday or Saturday by 11:55pm, or all of them, and then the number of weeks you would like to play for.
