Transfer news: Arsenal eye Vinicius Jr, Guimaraes bid; Man Utd boost

Arsenal have shown interest in Real Madrid's Vinicius Jr, who has turned down a contract offer worth €20m per year and enters the final 12 months of his deal. The Gunners also confirmed the signing of Christos Tzolis and are preparing a £70m bid for Newcastle captain Bruno Guimaraes after agreeing personal terms.

Arsenal's other targets and signings

Arsenal are also considering Ezri Konsa, John Stones, Jacobo Ramon, Julian Alvarez, Bradley Barcola, and Marcus Rashford. The club completed a deal for Cardiff City's Axel Donczew, a 16-year-old midfielder who was the youngest first-team player in Cardiff's history.

Manchester United's midfield targets

Manchester United have been boosted in their pursuit of Aurelien Tchouameni. Real Madrid teammate Eduardo Camavinga is also on their radar, along with Carlos Baleba, Manu Kone, Sander Berge, Danilo, and Tyler Adams.

Chelsea and Tottenham moves

Chelsea want Kerim Alajbegovic and Alex Scott after welcoming Morgan Rogers. Maxence Lacroix underwent a medical on Friday ahead of a £52m move from Crystal Palace. Tottenham are eyeing Andreas Schjelderup and Rafael Leao as Cristian Romero prepares to exit. Manager Roberto De Zerbi said: “Yes, the target now is to complete the attacking positions. We want the first target, the first level, because anyway we are already important players, but I think to start the new project we need another couple of important players, for sure.”

Liverpool and other clubs

Liverpool have moved for Maghnes Akliouche and also target Barcola and Rayan. Newcastle's Eddie Howe said of Bruno Guimaraes: “I’ve spoken to Bruno before, during and after the World Cup. We have had some really good conversations. He’s just a fantastic person. I don’t know what’s going to happen with his future, that’s for other people to speculate about. There’s conversations I’m not part of.”

Vinicius Jr and other developments

Vinicius Jr turned down a contract offer worth €20m per year. Asmir Begovic is on the market after leaving Leicester. World Cup goalkeeper Vozinha reached an agreement to join Chilean club Colo-Colo. Joao Palhinha committed to Bayern Munich, saying: “My plan is to keep my position here at Bayern.” Bayern director Christoph Freund dismissed Real Madrid's interest in Michael Olise: “Olise-Real Madrid? That's not a topic for us at all. He will play an important role for FC Bayern this season again.”

Contract and wage implications

Arsenal may think twice about renewing Declan Rice's contract if Vinicius Jr moves, as Vinicius would earn £400,000 per week. New Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho may attempt to block Vinicius Jr's sale.
