Epic Games has unveiled three new 'Star Wars' islands for Fortnite, created using the new 'Star Wars x UEFN' developer tools. The islands, titled 'Galactic Siege,' 'Droid Tycoon,' and 'Escape Vader,' were previewed at a Los Angeles event ahead of their May 1 release. The tools allow developers to use characters, templates, vehicles, and weapons from past Fortnite Battle Royale seasons to build their own Star Wars experiences.
'Galactic Siege,' developed by JOGO Studios, is a 10v10 player-versus-player class-based battle set on iconic Star Wars planets. Players fight as the Empire or Rebels, capturing points to earn points and win. A Star Destroyer level will launch initially, with a map inspired by 'The Mandalorian & Grogu' to follow after the film's release. Lead designer Jeremy Pedron said the game lets players 'pick your powers, your lightsaber and pick your own stats for your force user.'
'Escape Vader,' by Beyond Creative, is a four-player co-op horror game where rebels infiltrate a derelict Star Destroyer and must escape Darth Vader. CEO Kasper Weber said the team wanted to answer the childhood question of 'How would it feel to be chased by Vader?' Players must cooperate and use the environment to survive, as the game focuses on evasion rather than combat.
'Droid Tycoon,' created by FOAD, is a tycoon-style game where players build and manage a droid factory. The three islands are starter examples meant to inspire creators, who can now access the full Star Wars toolset. Sean Shoptaw, executive VP of Disney Games, said the partnership represents 'an extraordinary moment for fans,' while Epic's Andre Balta noted that 'any eligible creator can build assets in Fortnite and ship a Star Wars game.'
