Sky TV Customers Receive Major HBO Max Upgrade at No Extra Cost

Sky has unveiled another significant enhancement for its television subscribers, following a recent update that bundled Disney+ with select plans. The company has now integrated the newly launched HBO Max streaming service into its Ultimate TV package, providing customers with access to a vast library of premium content without any additional monthly charges.

What the HBO Max Upgrade Includes

Subscribers with Sky Ultimate TV can now stream popular HBO titles such as Game of Thrones, Friends, Dune, Succession, and Young Sheldon completely free of charge. This represents a substantial saving of over £50 annually compared to the standard £4.99 monthly subscription fee for HBO Max Basic with Ads.

Sky confirmed the update, stating: "Sky Stream and Sky Glass customers with Ultimate TV, and Sky Q customers with the right package, will get HBO Max Basic with Ads included as part of their Sky subscription."

The HBO Max service, which has been operational in the United States for some time, offers an extensive catalogue of must-watch HBO dramas. This includes classic series like The Wire alongside new Max Originals such as The Pitt. Additionally, subscribers gain access to a wide selection of Warner Bros. films, significantly expanding their entertainment options.

How to Activate HBO Max on Your Sky Device

Activating the new streaming service is straightforward for eligible customers:

  • Sky Ultimate TV subscribers using Sky Glass or Sky Stream can simply launch the HBO Max application directly from their device's homepage.
  • Sky Q customers with Sky Signature or Sky Entertainment packages follow the same process.
  • Once the app is opened, users need to follow the on-screen instructions to complete the activation process.
  • After setup, all HBO Max content becomes available for on-demand streaming through the integrated platform.

Alternative Options for Non-Subscribers

For customers not currently on the Sky Ultimate TV plan, switching is possible starting from £22 per month, though this price will increase to £24 from April 1st. The Ultimate TV package provides comprehensive entertainment access, including:

  1. Over 130 Sky channels
  2. Netflix subscription
  3. Disney+ access
  4. HBO Max inclusion
  5. The upcoming Hayu service, scheduled for launch later this year

Sophia Ahmad, Sky's Chief Consumer Officer, emphasized the significance of this development: "This marks a new era for Sky and NOW. For the first time anywhere, we're bringing Sky, Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max and Hayu together in a single subscription. No one else offers this range of entertainment in such an integrated experience."

NOW Entertainment customers will also benefit from this update, receiving HBO Max at no additional cost, fully integrated within the NOW application.

For those without Sky subscriptions, HBO Max remains accessible through direct sign-up on its official website. Standard with Ads plans begin at £5.99 per month, providing an alternative route to access the streaming service's extensive content library.
