Sky is permanently switching off three of its services today, September 30, 2026, affecting millions of Sky Q customers. Sky Witness+1, Sky Atlantic+1 and Sky Crime+1 will disappear from the TV guide within the next 24 hours.
Sky Witness+1 currently sits on channel 207, Sky Atlantic+1 is on 208 – or 209 in Wales – and Sky Crime+1 is on 221, or 222 in Scotland. As their names suggest, these channels show the same programmes as their main counterparts one hour later, offering a catch-up option for viewers who miss the start of a show.
No content loss despite channel closures
Although the shutdown may sound inconvenient, Sky says customers won't actually lose access to any content. Programmes will still be available live and on demand through the main Sky Atlantic, Sky Witness and Sky Crime channels.
Sky Glass and Sky Stream customers are unaffected, as those internet-powered platforms have never offered the +1 channels. Their built-in access to catch-up and on-demand services means viewers can restart or watch missed programmes over an internet connection.
Confirming the changes on its community website, Sky said: "Wednesday 30th September 2026 Sky Witness+1 (Satellite 207) closes permanently, Sky Atlantic+1 (Satellite 208 - 209 Wales) closes permanently, Sky Crime+1 (Satellite 221 - 222 Scotland) closes permanently."
Sky Go app upgraded
Alongside the bad news for Sky Q users, there is an upgrade worth checking out. Sky has recently launched a redesigned version of its Go app, bringing a refreshed look, easier navigation and features including Continue Watching.
The latter is designed to make it easier to pick up a programme on another device without having to search for it again. Carli Kerr, Managing Director of Sky TV & NOW, said: "Great entertainment should fit around customers’ lives. Millions of customers already use Sky Go to watch what they love when they’re out and about."
"The new version is designed for Sky Glass and Sky Stream customers, bringing more of the experience they enjoy on the big screen to their devices, so it’s easier to pick up a show, follow the match or set something to record wherever they are."
The new Sky Go app for Glass and Stream customers is available now through the App Store and Google Play. Sky Q customers can continue using the existing version of the app.
