Sky has launched a surprise sale offering new customers a major broadband speed boost for £3. The deal pairs Sky TV with Gigafast fibre broadband, one of the fastest speeds available.
Monthly prices start at £35 for Essential TV and Full Fibre Gigafast Broadband, which includes around 100 channels, free Netflix and 900Mbps download speeds. A £41 Ultimate TV and Full Fibre Gigafast Broadband package adds free HBO Max, Disney+ and Hayu.
Lowest ever price for 900Mbps
Sky says the packages are at their 'lowest ever price' and include 900Mbps for £3 more than 75Mbps. This works out at 12 times faster broadband for the equivalent of 10p per day.
Sky will also pay new customers up to £300 to cover any switch fees charged by their current provider. Sky's Full Fibre Gigafast delivers some of the fastest speeds available and is ideal for busy households streaming in 4K and online gaming, both of which can be done quickly and seamlessly.
Speed and availability details
With 900Mbps speeds, a 4K movie can be downloaded in minutes, while a huge 100GB video game can be ready to play in less than 15 minutes. There is a catch, though, as Sky says its Gigafast broadband is available in 79% of the UK, so customers should enter their postcode to check eligibility.
Sky customers can pair Essential TV with Full Fibre Gigafast Broadband for its 'lowest ever price'. This includes Sky Stream with around 100 channels and Netflix, plus 900Mbps download speeds.
Contract and rival offers
It is also worth noting Sky says its prices 'may change' during the minimum term. Prices will also increase to the usual non-promotional price after the 24-month term, at which point customers are no longer tied to any contract and free to cancel or negotiate a new deal.
Elsewhere, Virgin Media's rival Gig1 Fibre Broadband comes in at £28.99 for 1,130Mbps, but the provider has just launched an even faster plan. Customers living in select areas served by Virgin can now get the new Gig2 Full Fibre for whopping 2,000Mbps download speeds, but this comes at a cost of £49.99 per month.
Scottish provider Highland Broadband offers even faster speeds with its Ultimate 5000 package, delivering eye-watering 5,000Mbps for £39.99 (was £99.99). For those opting for Sky's TV and Full Fibre Gigafast deal, customers have been sharing their experience with the brand on Trustpilot.
Customer reviews
“Moved from Talktalk and the switch was perfect,” one said. “Works perfectly, speeds are amazing and a lot cheaper than Talktalk.”
Another said: “The speeds with Sky are fantastic and the coverage is great even in the garden. I had no issues with the broadband at all so renewed my contract and signed up for Sky with Netflix, all for an amazing price.”
Not everyone agrees, as this three-star review reported 'unreliable' service, saying: “Sky broadband is quite unreliable and has stopped on occasions since it was installed.”
While this happy customer says: “Got fibre broadband installed for free, easy to organise the date, engineer was helpful and friendly. WiFi signal is good, no issues.”
