The teasers, published overnight, feature images and slogans such as "New shape. New Joy," suggesting the company is preparing to unveil a significantly different device at its next Unpacked event, expected in July 2026.
What the Teasers Reveal
The short videos show a device with a cut-down, wider design compared to current Galaxy Z Fold models. Instead of the narrow, elongated screen that unfolds into a near-square display, the new form factor appears shorter and broader, resembling a passport when closed. Once opened, the device would offer a tablet-like aspect ratio, addressing a common criticism that the current Z Fold's unfolded screen is too square for comfortable media consumption or multitasking.
Samsung confirmed the teasers in an email to Express.co.uk, stating: "Since introducing the first Galaxy Fold, Samsung has expanded the category through different approaches to productivity, creativity and self-expression, guided by the belief that one size does not fit all." The company added that its focus remains on "opening more ways for people to interact with the world."
Potential Impact on the Foldable Market
If Samsung adopts this passport-style design, it could mark the most significant change to its foldable lineup since the original Galaxy Fold launched in 2019. The new shape may be introduced alongside the existing Z Fold and Z Flip models, offering consumers more choice. Alternatively, it could replace the current Z Fold entirely.
