Samsung Galaxy SmartTag2 slashed to £10.50 in cheapest ever Prime Day deal
Samsung SmartTag2 drops to £10.50 in Prime Day deal

The Samsung Galaxy SmartTag2 Bluetooth Tracker, a direct competitor to the Apple AirTag, has been reduced to its lowest ever price of £10.50 as part of Amazon's Prime Day sale. The deal, exclusive to Prime members, represents a significant discount from the usual £34 price tag, and even undercuts the current Samsung website offer of £23.80. According to Amazon price tracking site CamelCamelCamel, this is the cheapest price ever recorded for the device.

Prime Day exclusive and free trial

The offer is available only to Amazon Prime subscribers. New customers can sign up for a 30-day free trial, cancelable at any time without penalty, allowing them to access the discounted price without paying the standard £8.99 monthly subscription fee. The tracker can be clipped onto or hidden inside valuables such as suitcases, car keys, and pet collars, making it a versatile tool for locating lost items.

Features and compatibility

The SmartTag2 boasts a battery life of up to 500 days and connects to the SmartThings app on Samsung Galaxy devices. It includes Lost Mode, Search Nearby, and Ring Your Tag options. However, the Compass View feature requires ultra-wideband (UWB)-enabled Galaxy smartphones running Android 11 or higher, as noted on Samsung's website. The tracker is only compatible with Samsung Galaxy devices, unlike the Apple AirTag, which works exclusively with iOS devices. The AirTag is currently priced at £26.10 on Amazon or £29 on Apple's website.

Customer reviews and ratings

The SmartTag2 has received an average rating of 4.4 out of five stars from over 21,000 Amazon reviews. One satisfied customer said: "A must-have if you own Samsung Galaxy devices. I have the tracker on my keys, which I regularly put somewhere safe at home, and can't find. I use the SmartThings app and can set the tag to play a jingle to help me find it quicker." Another reviewer added: "It has been a total game-changer for keeping track of my belongings. Whether it's my keys, wallet, or even my bag, the smart tag makes it so easy to locate everything with just a few taps on my phone."

Limitations noted by users

Some reviewers highlighted that the tracker relies on other Galaxy devices nearby to relay its location when out of Bluetooth range, which can be problematic in rural areas. One customer noted: "Decent idea, we used them to track our luggage to and from Morocco - BUT you have to rely on other Galaxy users nearby for it to 'ping' off for location, it won't tell you exactly where it is, but roughly in an area." Another commented: "It's not that brilliant for updating location. Possibly ok in a built-up area but not good for a rural location." Samsung explains that SmartTags use Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) with a maximum range of 120 metres, and offline finding via the Galaxy Find Network uses other users' devices to locate the tag.
