Prince Harry's Amazon Deal Reportedly Tied to Meghan's Presence

Prince Harry is reportedly set to secure a "big money deal" from Amazon, but reports suggest the agreement hinges on his wife, Meghan Markle, also making an appearance. The sponsorship would support the 2027 Invictus Games, scheduled to take place in Birmingham next July.

Netflix Deal Ends Without Renewal

Following Megxit, Netflix agreed a £100 million deal with the Sussexes in 2020. That deal ended last year without renewal after poor reviews of the 'With Love, Meghan' lifestyle TV show.

Amazon has now agreed to sponsor the 2027 edition of the Invictus Games, according to reports. However, some reports stress that the deal has only been agreed with the tacit expectation that Meghan Markle will also appear.

Invictus Games Funding Needs

The Games, a multi-sport event for wounded, injured and sick military veterans, is set to "welcome 550 wounded, injured and sick service personnel and veterans, and their families, from 25 nations" to Birmingham. Amazon sponsorship may be crucial, as it has been claimed that the Invictus Games needs a £20 million cash injection to cover the costs of next year's competition.

The alleged Amazon offer comes after aircraft manufacturer Boeing, a previous major backer of the Games, chose not to renew its sponsorship following the last event two years ago.

Implications for Harry

If it is true that a deal-breaker is that Meghan must star at the event too, that could be an embarrassing slight to Harry. The tone of his 2023 memoir Spare says it all, according to the opinion piece.

Harry's ideal day, as imagined in the commentary, would involve attending a charity event, waving to crowds at a sports game, and giving a speech at a lavish banquet. But if he is told he can only do all that if accompanied by his wife, people may see him as part of a double-act.
