Pluribus fans have heaped praise on the season one finale, which aired on Apple TV on Christmas Eve. The series, created by Breaking Bad's Vince Gilligan, stars Rhea Seehorn as Carol Sturka, a fantasy romance novelist who must save the world after humanity becomes a hive mind.
The finale saw Carol finally meet Manousos (Carlos-Manuel Vesga), another immune person, who argues for destroying the hive mind if they cannot be reversed. Carol initially disagrees and flees with Zosia (Karolina Wydra) for a two-week romance, but returns after learning the hive mind plans to use her frozen eggs to transform her into one of them within a month.
In the final scene, Carol arrives home with an air-lifted crate containing an atom bomb, a device teased earlier in the series, and agrees to help Manousos save the world. Social media reactions were effusive, with one fan calling it “f***ing CRAZY” and another saying it “changed lives”.
Pluribus has been renewed for a second season, with Gilligan previously stating the show was conceived for four seasons. Season 2 is expected to return in 2027. The series is available to stream on Apple TV.
