Pluribus Season 2 Filming Update Promises 2027 Return After Delay Fears
Pluribus Season 2 Filming Update Promises 2027 Return

Fans of the Apple TV+ series Pluribus can breathe a sigh of relief after a promising filming update alleviated concerns about a lengthy delay. The show, created by Breaking Bad mastermind Vince Gilligan, follows fantasy romance novelist Carol Sturka (Rhea Seehorn) as she strives to save humanity from a global hive mind.

Production Timeline Revealed

After the first season concluded in December, viewers were left wondering when new episodes would arrive. Gilligan had previously stated that the writing team was "plugging away" on the next batch but was uncertain "what year" it would premiere. However, a recent update from Karolina Wydra, who portrays Carol's hive-mind representative Zosia, suggests a 2027 return. Wydra confirmed that filming for season two will commence later this year, likely in the fall.

Speaking to ScreenRant, Wydra expressed her excitement: "I cannot wait for us to be together every day. So I don't know when we're going back, but I cannot wait. I'm counting the days. Sometime in the fall." The cast will reunite in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where the series is filmed.

Gilligan's Vision for the Series

In an interview with The Independent, Gilligan elaborated on the show's premise: "I wanted the audience to think: 'Is this apocalypse good or bad?' That's pretty much all you need to know." He added that while the series may not be overly twisty-turny, the team will "endeavour, as always, to keep things interesting." Gilligan envisions Pluribus spanning four seasons.

The showrunner, known for his work on The X-Files, Breaking Bad, and Better Call Saul, noted a shift in his storytelling: "The thing that got me most excited about Pluribus was writing a hero again. I realised it had been 23 years since I wrote hero characters – Agent Mulder and Agent Scully." He explained that after years of crafting anti-heroes like Walter White and Jimmy McGill, he felt ready to return to a more traditional protagonist.

What to Expect

With production set to begin later this year, fans can anticipate a 2027 release for the second season. The show's unique blend of sci-fi and character-driven drama promises to keep audiences engaged as Carol Sturka navigates a world transformed by a collective consciousness.
