Newcastle United are actively seeking a new goalkeeper as the Premier League season draws near. Currently, Nick Pope, 34, is expected to start the campaign, having returned to training and competing with Ewen Jaouen for the gloves. Japan international Zion Suzuki has also held talks with Newcastle, with the Parma stopper on their radar.
Carl Rushworth: Agent Pushing for Premier League Move
According to Chronicle Live, Carl Rushworth has been offered to Newcastle, but the club has not yet initiated talks. The Brighton goalkeeper, who spent last season on loan at Coventry City, is being heavily pushed by his representatives to join an established Premier League club. Coventry, now promoted, are desperate to sign him permanently, with reports of a £20m bid from Frank Lampard's side. However, Rushworth's agent is testing the waters across the Premier League before making a decision.
James Trafford: Complex Deal Remains a Priority
James Trafford, currently with Manchester City, remains a top target for Newcastle. The England stopper was Newcastle's primary target last summer before City activated a buy-back clause from Burnley for £27m. Newcastle remain interested, but the deal is complex, with City seeking nearly double that fee. Other clubs, including Aston Villa, are also interested. Newcastle would love to sign Trafford, who would become a key player.
