Resident Alien: Netflix's 'Brilliant' Sci-Fi Comedy Returns for Final Season

Sci-fi fans searching for a new binge-watch need look no further than Netflix, which is already streaming the first two seasons of the American comedy series Resident Alien. The third season is expected to arrive soon, with the fourth and final season confirmed by Syfy in 2025.

The show follows an alien (Alan Tudyk) who crash-lands in the small town of Patience, Colorado. Sent to wipe out humanity, he kills a doctor on holiday and assumes his identity as 'Harry Vanderspeigle'. The alien soon becomes the town's doctor and forms a bond with the mayor's young son, the only human who can see his true form.

Having no medical knowledge, the alien learns how to be a doctor by watching Law & Order. Over time, he wrestles with the moral quandary of his mission and ultimately decides to protect the human race from new otherworldly threats instead of destroying it.

Alongside Tudyk, the cast includes Sara Tomko, Corey Reynolds, Alice Wetterlund, Levi Fiehler, Judah Prehn, Elizabeth Bowen, and Meredith Garretson. Fans have praised the series, with one 10/10 review calling it 'the best TV show in years' and highlighting the 'fresh, original and hilarious' writing and Tudyk's 'top notch' performance.

Another review described it as having 'the right blend of comedy and drama with a bit of sci-fi thrown in as a backdrop', while a third praised its 'perfect dark humour'. With all four seasons now available on Netflix, viewers can enjoy the complete story of this beloved alien.
