Plot and Setting
First released on Netflix in 2018, Lost in Space is an intense reboot of the 1960s CBS series, which itself was inspired by the 1812 novel The Swiss Family Robinson by Johann David Wyss and the comic book Space Family Robinson. The series follows the Robinson family and their adventures in deep space.
Set in 2046, the Robinson family is selected, along with other colonists, for an interstellar mission to colonise the Alpha Centauri planetary system. They travel on the spaceship Resolute. However, an alien robot breach forces the colonists to flee in a spacecraft to a nearby habitable planet, where they must survive and face new obstacles.
