Nintendo has released a new update for Mario Kart World on the Nintendo Switch 2, adding two new routes to the Knockout Tour and a sticker feature for photo mode. The update arrives after months of silence from the Japanese company, announced via their social media accounts.
What the Update Includes
The free patch introduces Drill Rally and Boomerang Rally to the Knockout Tour, both based on items from the Super Mario Bros series. Players can now also place stickers in photo mode, expanding creative options for capturing race moments.
Mario Kart World launched as a launch title for the Nintendo Switch 2 in June 2026 and has maintained a steady price. At AO.com, the game is listed at £61, but a TopCashback deal brings the effective cost down to £45.80 for new members.
Cashback Deal Details
New TopCashback members can receive a £15 sign-up bonus when spending £15 or more at participating retailers, including AO.com. This reduces the price of Mario Kart World to £45.80 after cashback is applied. Existing TopCashback members shopping at AO.com will see the price drop to £60.80 after cashback.
Standard delivery within three working days is free for most AO.com customers, with an option for faster delivery from £6. The TopCashback deal makes Mario Kart World cheaper than competitors: Amazon (£59.99), Argos (£74.99), and Currys (£64.99).
Game Features and Reception
Mario Kart World supports 24-player races across over a dozen tracks. The Knockout Tour mode challenges players to race non-stop through multiple races, with elimination if they fail to meet thresholds. An open-world mode allows exploration of the Mushroom Kingdom, collecting Peach Coins, completing challenges, and unlocking outfits for racers.
On Amazon, the game holds a 4.7-star rating and sold over 1,000 copies in the past month. User reviews include: Nick said, "I loved the Mario Kart games, so this one was a no-brainer." Beth agreed: "Brilliant game for the whole family." Marc remarked: "Massively enjoying playing through the new Mario Kart. Controls are very similar to 8, but I would say slightly more responsive, and the curve in the drifting is slightly more acute... So far I love the new courses, lots of variations in each course route." However, Bradley stated: "The game is 'alright' at best. I'm not the biggest Mario Kart fan, but I wanted to play with friends. I can't recommend buying this unless you know you will play it." Andrea commented: "Really good game, glad I got it, I've played Mario Kart for years, and I'm enjoying this latest instalment."
