Manchester United are on the verge of completing three transfers this weekend, with medicals booked for goalkeeper Karl Darlow and midfielder Andrey Santos, while Ederson is undergoing a more comprehensive medical assessment before his move from Atalanta.
Darlow Set to Join on Free Transfer
Karl Darlow is expected to join Manchester United on a free transfer after leaving Leeds United upon the expiry of his contract last month. The 33-year-old goalkeeper will provide cover for Senne Lammens, with three goalkeepers having left Old Trafford this summer. Darlow had been offered renewed terms at Elland Road after making 22 league appearances for the Yorkshire club last season, but he is now expected to move across the Pennines to join the Red Devils.
Andre Onana has already returned to Trabzonspor on loan, while Altay Bayindir is widely anticipated to seal a permanent move back to Turkey. Radek Vitek will also depart in search of regular first-team football, and United could benefit financially from the 22-year-old following his impressive loan spell at Bristol City.
Santos Completes Medical After £50m Deal
A £50million deal was agreed with Chelsea earlier this week for Brazilian midfielder Andrey Santos, 22, who has since been undergoing his medical assessments. Santos is poised to complete his switch to the club on a five-year deal in the coming days. The move could be finalised as early as Friday.
Ederson Undergoes Final Phase of Medical
United have already reached a £35million agreement with Atalanta to bring Ederson to Old Trafford, with a further £3.8million in add-ons. Personal terms on a four-year deal with a one-year extension option have also been agreed. Initial examinations took place during the World Cup, but following Brazil's exit from the tournament, the 27-year-old has travelled to Manchester to complete his transfer. Despite suggestions that the deal might collapse, it remains very much on track as he prepares to undergo the final phase of his medical.
United's squad returned to Carrington to commence their pre-season training on Thursday. The Red Devils face Wrexham in their opening friendly on Saturday, July 18th in Helsinki, Finland.
