Manchester United are facing a busy final week of the transfer window after their 2-0 defeat at Hull City in the Premier League opener. The result at the MKM Stadium has raised questions about whether the club's summer business, headlined by deals for Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos, is sufficient.
Baleba signing confirmed
Movement has been made in the pursuit of Carlos Baleba, with the Cameroonian announced on Tuesday. Baleba was left out by Brighton for their league opener against Aston Villa and has signed for United until the summer of 2031.
Michael Carrick will want a reaction from his United players as they face another newly promoted side, Ipswich Town, next time out. The manager may be able to welcome back more players after injury, but there will no doubt also be some work going on behind the scenes.
Further exits could also happen, with speculation continuing to surround the future of Marcus Rashford.
Chelsea weighing up Rashford move
Chelsea are still considering a late move for Marcus Rashford, according to The Independent. Any move would rely on them first completing a number of sales, with Aston Villa target Nicolas Jackson among those linked with an exit.
It would not be the first time the London side have raided United for a wide forward. Jadon Sancho and Alejandro Garnacho both spent time at Stamford Bridge of late, though Sancho's loan did not bring a permanent move, and Garnacho has now headed out on loan himself after a permanent move to West London.
Rashford has spent the last season and a half out on loan but returned to Old Trafford in pre-season. His second-half run-out at Hull was his first competitive appearance for his parent club since December 2024.
Balde price comes to light
Manchester United will need to pay around £38.5million if they want to sign Alejandro Balde from Barcelona, according to The Athletic. A loan deal could also be an option if all parties can be convinced.
The left-back was left out of Barcelona's squad for their weekend clash with Elche. “I spoke with Balde this morning and told him that I think he’s not here at 100 per cent, clear your mind and then we’ll talk,” manager Hansi Flick said.
Balde is one of a number of left-backs mentioned in connection with a United switch, along with Racing Santander's Jorge Salinas. However, a move for Newcastle star Lewis Hall appears to be off the table for the time being.
