Manchester United have a few days left to complete last-minute transfer business after losing their Premier League opener at Hull City. The 2-0 defeat at the MKM Stadium has left manager Michael Carrick considering whether further additions are needed, as well as potential exits.
Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans both made their competitive debuts for United, but goals from defenders Semi Ajayi and Nobel Mendy gave the Tigers all three points. Carlos Baleba joined from Brighton on Tuesday, but he might be the last arrival before the window shuts on September 1.
Rashford on Chelsea's radar
According to The Independent, Chelsea haven't ruled out moving for Marcus Rashford in the final days of the transfer window. However, any potential move would depend on them first offloading several players, with Nicolas Jackson, Liam Delap and Mykhailo Mudryk among those attracting interest.
This would not be the first time the London club have signed a wide forward from United, with Jadon Sancho and Alejandro Garnacho both spending time at Stamford Bridge recently. Rashford has spent the past season and a half out on loan but returned to Old Trafford during pre-season. His second-half appearance at Hull was his first competitive outing for his parent club since December 2024.
Balde unlikely to come cheap
A permanent move for Alejandro Balde could cost United as much as £38.5million, The Athletic reports. However, there are suggestions the Premier League club could explore a loan move for the Barcelona man.
The left-back was omitted from Barcelona's squad for their weekend fixture against Elche. "I spoke with Balde this morning and told him that I think he's not here at 100 per cent, clear your mind and then we'll talk," manager Hansi Flick said.
Balde is among several left-backs linked with a move to United, alongside Racing Santander's Jorge Salinas. However, a deal for Newcastle star Lewis Hall appears to be off the table for the time being.
