Manchester United are reportedly not actively looking to add goalkeeping reinforcements to their squad amid links with Paraguay number one Orlando Gill. The San Lorenzo shot-stopper has been mooted with a sensational move to the Premier League, but those links with the 6ft6in shot-stopper have now been rubbished.
Gill's World Cup rise and transfer speculation
Argentinian publication Ole claimed that offers have arrived for Gill, who featured for Paraguay during their historic World Cup run to the Round of 16, which ended in the narrow, ill-tempered defeat to France. The goalkeeper's future remains the subject of speculation after his stock rose throughout the tournament in North America. The player himself revealed that he had interest from interested clubs.
United's current goalkeeping options
Fabrizio Romano has claimed that United will not be entering the market for another goalkeeping arrival following Karl Darlow's move across the Pennines. Michael Carrick has Senne Lammens, Karl Darlow and Tom Heaton at his disposal while Altay Bayindir remains contracted to the club but faces an uncertain future after a patchy record between the sticks at Old Trafford.
Vitek's desire to leave
There could be further goalkeeper movement at the Theatre of Dreams after goalkeeper Radek Vitek expressed his desire to leave the club. The 22-year-old has spent two-and-a-half seasons away from the North West following loan spells with Blau-Weiss Linz and Bristol City, where he enjoyed a brilliant campaign in the Championship. Andre Onana returned to Turkey to join Trabzonspor and Bayindir is also expected to leave, the MEN can report, which leaves the number two berth available. However, Vitek has already outlined his desire to achieve the ambition of being a number one.
"I feel great and ready to go again somewhere to be, hopefully, number one, so we will see. We will see what is going to happen," Vitek said after the Wrexham game. "At the moment, I am still here, but we will see. I hope so. I hope there will be some interest. I think you will know when things are more concrete. I am ready for both, to be fair. [It] Depends what the club wants and also depends on the options. We will see. There have been a few interests on the table. But we hope to get the best one and hopefully it will happen soon. My mind is still the same. I want to play. I want to play every week and that is the goal for next season. I think hopefully I will find out soon where that is going to be. I think I grew over the past two-and-a-half years when I went on a few loans. I grew in a person-wise, on the pitch as well."
