Manchester United could receive a welcome financial boost thanks to a sell-on clause involving former star Alejandro Garnacho, as the club continues to be linked with Roma midfielder Manu Kone.
Garnacho's potential move to Roma
Garnacho left United last summer to join Chelsea for £40million, with a 10 percent sell-on clause included in the deal. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has reported that Roma have expressed an interest in signing Garnacho, who looks increasingly likely to leave Chelsea just a year after his move. It has been reported that Garnacho has made a move to Roma his priority, but no agreement has been reached between Chelsea and the Serie A club.
Should Garnacho leave Chelsea, United would receive 10 percent of the transfer fee, providing a welcome financial windfall during a busy summer transfer window.
United's interest in Manu Kone
Garnacho's link to Roma coincides with United being credited with an interest in the club's midfielder, Manu Kone. Reports in France this week claimed that United have opened talks with Roma over a deal for the 25-year-old and appear to be the favorites to secure his signing. It has also been suggested that Kone wants his future resolved as soon as possible.
If Kone were to join United, it could result in the Reds receiving some money back, provided Garnacho completes a move to Roma.
United's midfield reinforcements
United have made strengthening their midfield a priority this summer, with two new signings already made. Andrey Santos was signed from Chelsea in a £50million deal, while United activated the £35million release clause in Youri Tielemans' contract at Aston Villa. It remains to be seen if United will look to bring Kone to Old Trafford, but if they do, they could receive money back from Roma if Garnacho moves to the Italian capital.
