Lush has launched the Bath Bot, a floating speaker and light designed to turn a bath into a “sensory bathing experience”. Priced at £150, it promises to help users “float into pure relaxation”. But does it deliver?
Design and setup
Designed to resemble a Lush bath bomb, the device is sleekly curved, with one LED at the top and another underneath. Setup is simple: it sits on a dock to charge while users download the Lush app on their phone. The bot pairs via Bluetooth, and users can then scroll through a library of experiences to match their mood, with categories including sleep, relax and party.
Each experience lasts about 20 minutes and syncs 180-degree sounds — from disco beats to birdsong — with a light show.
In the bath
After trying the disco option, reviewer Fiona Roberts-Moore settled on “float in magic” and entrusted the bot to the bath. It is water-resistant, but the guide emphasises that it mustn’t go under the surface, to protect the speaker — “not the most relaxing instruction”.
As it bobbed gently next to her, turning the water pink, then blue, then purple, it felt “rather hypnotic and spa-like”. Nobody was electrocuted, but the only shock was the price.
Value for money
At £150, the Bath Bot may prompt some to consider a trip to a real spa instead. The device is available from Lush.com.
