The Logitech G502 X Plus is proving itself as a near-perfect productivity mouse, offering enough macro-friendly buttons and ergonomic comfort to replace the ageing G604, despite a notable Bluetooth omission.
In a hands-on test over a weekend, the G502 X Plus served as a daily driver for writing and editing tasks. The two buttons on top of the mouse allow for quick copying and pasting of text between documents, while thumb buttons on the left side facilitate fast switching between browser windows. The final side button, intended as a DPI switcher, was repurposed to open new tabs, saving precious seconds during fact checks.
Colourways and Comfort
The new white and mint colour scheme, featuring a pearlescent effect around the scroll wheel housing, adds a striking aesthetic to the desk. The mouse, while not as comfortable as the steep hump of the G600 series, is ergonomic enough for long work sessions, making it a viable dual-purpose device for both gaming and productivity.
A Significant Omission
However, the G502 X Plus is missing Bluetooth connectivity, requiring users to rely solely on the dedicated 2.4GHz receiver. This is a pain for those who switch between multiple devices, and given the mouse weighs 106g, the omission feels peevish and limits its functionality. For single-device users, this may not be an issue.
This is not a formal review but a plea to Logitech to refresh the G600 line, which remains in desperate need of an update. While MMO mice may not be as popular as they once were, there is still a niche market for a mouse with all the buttons in an ergonomic form factor. In lieu of a G604 successor, the G502 X Plus appears to be the closest option for now.
