Liverpool Transfer News: Diomande Statement, Salah Replacement

Liverpool news: Yan Diomande issues transfer statement as Reds find Mo Salah replacement. All the latest Liverpool transfer news during the World Cup.

Yan Diomande makes transfer confession

Yan Diomande has confessed to a love for the Reds. The RB Leipzig winger has been a major target for Liverpool in recent months, as it emerged that the club are the frontrunner in the race for his signature. A valuation of £87million is currently being discussed, with Andoni Iraola hoping to enter negotiations with the German club. Diomande has already expressed his desires, as he shared his love for the Reds on TikTok last November. He said: "I have one [dream], I want to play at Anfield. I want to play for Liverpool. I'm a big fan of Liverpool." However, the 19-year-old has since clarified that the "dream" comment was dedicated to his Liverpool-supporting father. He told Bild: "People made it out to be my dream club, but first and foremost, it's my dad's favourite club. It was always his great wish to see me play there someday because he loves the atmosphere at Anfield. He always raved about Steven Gerrard. I was too young to see him play. We didn't even have a TV at home for a long time."

Mo Salah replacement identified

Diomande isn't the only winger Liverpool are eyeing this summer. Paris Saint-Germain's Bradley Barcola has become a target for the Reds, with reports that the France international will soon be on the move. TalkSPORT has reported that Liverpool are tracking Barcola, and PSG could consider a sale if they find another option on the wing. Reports suggest that it would take around £86m to pry the exciting star from his home at PSG to replace the outgoing Mohamed Salah at Anfield. The Egyptian confirmed his exit from the club after agreeing to rip up his contract a year early. Iraola will be keen to get some ready-made players in the door as he aims for a successful start to his reign at Anfield.

Seven Liverpool stars are currently taking part in the World Cup across the United States, Canada and Mexico. And things are just as busy back at Anfield, with Andoni Iraola and his backroom team working hard on transfers ahead of the upcoming 2026/27 season. The new manager will be keen to get off to the right start with Liverpool, and another bumper transfer window looks to be in the works. The Reds have been linked with a number of players to fill key positions across the pitch.

Liverpool initially had eight World Cup representatives, but Wataru Endo has since dropped out of the Japan squad due to a foot injury. This means he will no longer face Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk as the Netherlands take on Japan. Van Dijk is joined by Cody Gakpo and Ryan Gravenberch for the Dutch, with Florian Wirtz representing Germany, Alisson between the sticks for Brazil and Alexander Isak up top for Sweden. A number of transfer targets are also in action over the next few days, with Reds scouts likely taking in matches throughout the World Cup.
