Andoni Iraola's first transfer window at Liverpool is underway, with the club linked to a bold swoop for World Cup hero Ferran Torres and England talent Alex Scott. The Reds have flown to the United States for a pre-season tour, while scouts and sporting director Richard Hughes are expected to be busy with signings.
Reds Join Race for World Cup Hero Torres
Liverpool are targeting Ferran Torres for a Premier League comeback, according to the Mirror. This follows Spain's extra-time victory over Argentina in Sunday's World Cup final, where the Barcelona winger netted the decisive goal in a 1-0 win. Torres came off the bench to steer La Roja to victory in New Jersey.
Paris Saint-Germain have been most strongly connected with the player, alongside Liverpool wing target Yan Diomande of RB Leipzig. However, Torres would arrive at a significantly reduced cost compared to those alternatives given his age and the fact he has entered the final 12 months of his Camp Nou deal. L'Equipe has claimed Liverpool are prepared to rival PSG for his bargain signature, reportedly priced between £40m and £50m.
Torres spent 18 months at City following a £20m move in 2020, scoring nine goals in 28 league games. He moved to Barca in January 2022 for around £47m and has netted 20 goals per season over the last two campaigns.
Alex Scott Reunion Pathway Cleared
Alex Scott's prospects of leaving Bournemouth may have improved after he rejected a new contract. It is understood to be the second occasion in 2026 the English playmaker has spurned fresh terms. Scott, 22, developed a solid rapport with Iraola during their spell together on the south coast. Sky Sports News revealed Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea are also fighting Liverpool for his signature.
With only two years left on his deal, this might be the perfect chance to bring Scott aboard. The former Bristol City talent is valued at £60m, with Bournemouth facing a decision over whether to cash in now or risk losing their prized asset for a reduced sum later.
Sale Talks
FSG have confirmed they are in talks over selling a "significant minority stake" in Liverpool to a consortium led by former QPR owner Amit Bhatia, backed by the Mittal family. Bhatia has left his role at QPR, ending a nine-year association. In a statement, FSG said: "An investment consortium led, managed and represented by Amit Bhatia has expressed interest in making a strategic minority investment in Liverpool Football Club." According to the Financial Times, a deal would value Liverpool at more than £4.5bn.
