Liverpool have made an initial approach for France international Maghnes Akliouche as they continue their search for a new right-wing signing. The Reds contacted Monaco earlier in the transfer window to check on the 24-year-old's availability.
PSG also targeting Akliouche
Akliouche, who made one appearance for France during the recent World Cup, has since become a major target for Paris Saint-Germain. Reports in France claim the Champions League holders have had a third bid turned down for the player this week.
Iraola confirms need for winger
New Liverpool head coach Andoni Iraola said on Tuesday during a press conference in Chicago that the Reds "definitely need to sign a winger" following the departure of Mohamed Salah and a long-term injury to Hugo Ekitike. Liverpool have already bolstered their options with £34.5m attacker Victor Munoz from Osasuna.
Other targets
Liverpool were willing to pay £86m for Ivory Coast international Yan Diomande, but RB Leipzig demanded in excess of £100m and the player prefers a move to PSG. The Reds' shortlist also includes Bradley Barcola of PSG, Lille's Matias Fernandez-Pardo, and Koln forward Said El Mala. Barcola is under contract until 2028, with L'Equipe reporting PSG have set a £127m asking price. None of the five players Liverpool have been interested in has made a transfer this summer.
