Liverpool have made an enquiry to Crystal Palace about winger Ismaila Sarr, but no bid has been submitted at this time, according to David Ornstein. The Reds are looking to strengthen the right-hand side of their attack as they seek a successor for Mohamed Salah.
Interest in Sarr and Minteh
Liverpool have been linked with several wingers this summer, having had bids for Brighton & Hove Albion's Yankuba Minteh rejected. Sarr, who plays for Crystal Palace, is the latest name to be connected with a move to Anfield.
Speaking on TNT Sports, Ornstein said: "We've seen that Yankuba Minteh is a target, they've had a couple of bids turned down by Brighton and Hove Albion. And also, Ismaila Sarr of Crystal Palace. There's been an enquiry but no bid at this point, so it's a live situation and big calls need to be made in the coming days."
Gakpo's decision
The transfer activity comes amid interest in Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo, with Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur keen on signing the Dutch international. Ornstein outlined the three options available to Gakpo.
"Cody has a big decision to make because he's got three very good options. He either stays at Liverpool, where he'll be a great asset - already has been so far," Ornstein said. "He moves to Manchester City, their interest is genuine. Or he goes to Tottenham, and they've been pursuing him - it's been a bit more high-profile - for some time. Pros and cons to all of those options."
Impact on Liverpool's plans
According to Ornstein, Gakpo's decision will directly affect Liverpool's pursuit of a right-sided attacker. "If he decides to stay, then Liverpool will probably park their pursuit of a right-sided attacker, because then they'll have the four wingers already in the building," he said. "If he decides to go, then Liverpool will look to execute on a deal for the right-hand side as well."
Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola, whose side have been linked with moves for Sarr and Minteh, acknowledged the club's efforts to sign a new winger. Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Iraola said: "As you know, we are trying to sign in that position and also, as you know, we cannot talk about players that right now are not ours. But it's evident that we are trying to improve or try to fill that position because we don't have the numbers. I hope we can have good news soon but we are still not there."
