Liverpool have confirmed the addition of two Bournemouth coaches to Andoni Iraola's backroom staff, while the club is reportedly among the favourites to sign Mexican World Cup wonderkid Gilberto Mora.
Double Deal from Bournemouth
The Reds announced that Cherries coaches Tommy Elphick and Shaun Cooper will join Iraola's coaching team at Anfield as first-team coaches. Both are former Bournemouth players who transitioned into coaching roles. They will work alongside assistant coach Pablo de la Torre and first-team tactical analyst Tom Weber, who were also part of Iraola's staff on the south coast.
This follows the earlier arrivals of Iraola, sporting director Richard Hughes, and left-back Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth. Brazilian striker Rayan has also been strongly linked with a move to Merseyside.
World Cup Wonderkid on the Radar
Liverpool are reportedly among several Premier League clubs monitoring 17-year-old Club Tijuana winger Gilberto Mora, who made history at the World Cup in North America. According to De Telegraaf, Mora became the second youngest player ever to start a World Cup knockout match when he faced Ecuador on Wednesday, with only Brazilian legend Pele ahead of him.
TNT Sports' Mexico correspondent Rodrigo Lara told AS Mexico: "In six months, during the winter transfer window, Gilberto Mora is going to take off... he's going to be a Premier League. I can't say which team... Today, after the match against Ecuador and after the England game, things are going to move forward for Gilberto Mora. The information I have is that Gilberto Mora will play in the Premier League."
Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea are also reportedly keen on the teenager. However, Liverpool may have to wait until October when Mora turns 18, due to visa rules that currently bar him from relocating to England.
Iraola's Overhaul Continues
New boss Andoni Iraola has already secured the signings of Osasuna winger Victor Munoz for £34million and French centre-back Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes for £55m, a deal agreed in January but only made official on July 1. After a fifth-place Premier League finish and failure to reach any semi-finals last season, Iraola is tasked with rebuilding a squad that has lost Andy Robertson, Ibrahima Konate, and Mohamed Salah.
Sporting director Richard Hughes has made signing a new right winger a top priority, though his own future is uncertain amid speculation about a potential move to Saudi Arabia.
