Liverpool have made an approach for Monaco star Maghnes Akliouche as they continue to scour the market for a new winger, but remain 'confident' they will land PSG superstar Bradley Barcola.
The Reds have seen Mohamed Salah depart Anfield and need to replace the iconic Egyptian this summer. A number of players have been identified but, as of yet, they've been unable to get a deal over the line.
Approach for Akliouche
Their approach for Akliouche comes after they checked on the Frenchman's availability, reports Sky Sports. PSG too are keen on the 24-year-old and have seen several offers declined by Monaco, the most recent of which was around the £34million mark.
Akliouche made one appearance for France at the World Cup following a season that saw him score seven times in 43 outings for the Ligue 1 side. He came through the ranks in Monaco and those from the Principality haven't hidden the fact he could be available for the right price.
Barcola race
Liverpool's search for attacking reinforcements involves a number of moving parts. They've been eyeing Barcola for much of the summer and the winger could well leave Paris with Arsenal also keen. He is valued around the £100m mark but the Reds are leading the race for his signature.
Bayern Munich too are eyeing him, but The Sun claims those from Anfield are at the front of the queue. Liverpool have already missed out on Yan Diomande, who is set to join PSG from RB Leipzig once the German side seal a replacement.
Diomande's imminent arrival at the Parc des Princes means the Champions League winners can afford to offload Barcola, who impressed for France at the World Cup and scored 13 times last term - having scored 21 times the year prior to that.
New era under Iraola
Liverpool, now embarking on a new era following the appointment of Andoni Iraola, have already signed Spanish winger Victor Munoz from Osasuna in a £34.5m deal. Centre-half Jeremy Jacquet has joined after agreeing a £55m move from Rennes in January.
The Reds' recruitment drive comes after those at Anfield spent more than £400m last summer, twice breaking the British transfer record to sign Florian Wirtz and then Alexander Isak. They also added the likes of Milos Kerkez and Hugo Ekitike, but went from champions to fifth, narrowly qualifying for the Champions League.
