Liverpool are reportedly edging towards an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain for winger Bradley Barcola as the club prepares to submit a final proposal before the September 1 transfer deadline.
According to L'Equipe, Liverpool are confident the European champions will accept the offer, and the player's camp is said to be increasingly optimistic that a deal will be concluded before the summer window closes. Liverpool have been pursuing the French international throughout much of the summer, with PSG understood to be seeking in excess of £145 million for the player, a sum the Reds are unwilling to pay.
Barcola deal close
Barcola is believed to be eager to link up with Andoni Iraola's squad. While PSG's asking price remains a stumbling block, reports in the French press suggest a bid between £111 million and £128 million could be sufficient to bring the left winger to Anfield. There is no concern that the deal might collapse, despite an apparent absence of tangible progress to date.
The eventual transfer fee is expected to surpass the Ligue 1 record for a sale to a foreign club, eclipsing both Ayyoub Bouaddi's forthcoming transfer to Manchester City this summer and Neymar's move to Al-Hilal in 2023, although the precise final figure remains unclear.
Ramsay joins St Mirren
Liverpool defender Calvin Ramsay has expressed his delight at returning to Scotland after joining St Mirren, subject to international clearance. The right-back is out of contract at Anfield next summer and will ultimately leave on a permanent free transfer, with the club having already decided not to offer him a new deal.
Ramsay joined Liverpool in an initial £4.2 million transfer from Aberdeen in June 2022. His time with the Reds was blighted by injuries and unsuccessful loan spells, and he managed just four appearances across his four years at Anfield.
"I feel really good, really excited," he told his new club. "I've been in and trained and met all the boys, so yeah, I'm looking forward to it."
"I know the league and I wanted to come back up here and try and show what I can do and rebuild myself again. I feel like it's a good place to come. I want to try and perform, work as hard as I can and see where that takes me."
"It's a really tough place to come for opposition teams and I think the pitch is really good as well from when I played here. It's a good set up, it's a good club and I'm just excited to get going. I spoke to the manager a couple of times before I came up and he got his plan across and what he wanted to do."
"It's probably a different St Mirren compared to the last few years. That'll suit me. I'm comfortable on the ball, I'm composed, I like to get on it and try and create things and make things happen."
