Lidl's Silvercrest bean-to-cup coffee machine, priced at £49.99, is now available in supermarkets, promising barista-style brews on a budget. The pastel-coloured appliance, available in pink, green, or black, features a 15-bar pump pressure, a two-cup capacity, and a manual steam wand for milk frothing.
Features and availability
The coffee maker uses ground beans rather than pods and comes with two filter inserts for one or two shots. It has a one-litre water capacity and includes a hot water function. The machine is available in-store from 16 August, part of Lidl's new Silvercrest pastel range, which also includes a stand mixer, kettle, toaster, microwave, and an air fryer in matching colours.
Comparison with premium alternative
For those without a nearby Lidl, the De'Longhi La Specialista Arte Truestart Edition offers a similar concept at a higher price point of £449. It features a 250g coffee bean capacity, 15 grind settings, and a 1.7-litre water tank, along with a steam wand for latte art. A reviewer noted its "eight grinder settings, three temperature profiles and 15-bar pump pressure," promising enough pressure for a perfect espresso.
The Lidl machine's affordability and compact design are likely to appeal to coffee drinkers with simple tastes and a lazy morning routine, offering a cost-effective alternative to daily takeaway coffees.
