McDonald's brings back mini hash browns after 2024 debut

McDonald's is bringing back its mini hash browns, the bite-size version of its popular breakfast item, after they were first introduced in 2024. From August 25, customers will be able to buy a sharebox of 15 for £2.99, available in restaurants and via McDelivery.

Return of the 'God tier' breakfast item

The mini hash browns were launched in the UK in 2024 for a limited time and proved popular with fans. This time, the single portion is not available — two years ago, customers could buy a small portion of five — but the sharebox is back 'to satisfy breakfast cravings', according to McDonald's.

McDonald's said: 'It's a universal truth that nothing hits like the golden crispiness of a McDonald's Hash Brown and that's why McDonald's is excited to announce the return of the beloved breakfast item. Mini hash browns made their first UK debut in 2024. They may be small in size, but they made a big impression on Maccies fans. Now, they're back by popular demand, giving fans a limited window to get their crispy, fluffy fix before they're gone again.'

Fan reactions and other breakfast comebacks

Fans have expressed strong enthusiasm for the hash browns. One X user wrote: 'McDonald's has the best hash brown in the world. Don't argue with me.' Another said: 'I would actually crumble if McDonald's hash browns didn't exist, I would eat one every hour if I could.'

The return follows a successful year for McDonald's breakfast items. The Breakfast Wrap, axed in 2020 due to lockdown restrictions and confirmed gone for good in 2022, made a comeback in February 2024 after over 5,000 DMs, 'too many tweets to count', and 83 separate petitions on Change.org. Its relaunch was so popular that it was temporarily removed after just two days due to 'unprecedented demand' causing shortages of breakfast ingredients.
