Lenovo has launched the IdeaPad Vibe, a new Windows laptop that directly competes with Apple's MacBook Neo. The device stands out with seven colour options, compared to the MacBook Neo's four, and includes customisable keyboard caps.
Colour and customisation options
The IdeaPad Vibe is available in Chill Blue, Zen Green, Spicy Gold, Radiant Coral, Dreamy Violet, Lowkey Grey, and Moody Blue. Beyond the exterior, users can pop off the keyboard caps to personalise those colours as well.
This thin and light laptop weighs only 1.3kg, making it suitable for working and studying on the move. It ships with a 14-inch or 15-inch screen, with an OLED option for more colourful and higher quality visuals.
Performance and upgradability
Running Windows 11, the IdeaPad Vibe offers a choice of a Snapdragon X chip or AMD Ryzen, with Intel options expected later. As the tech industry faces high prices for memory and storage, the Vibe has an added advantage: it is upgradable.
Buyers can purchase the lowest-spec model now and upgrade the storage later when prices drop. Those opting for the AMD version can also update the RAM, allowing the laptop to be refreshed after a couple of years.
Connectivity and pricing
Despite its portability, the laptop includes a wide range of connections, with HDMI for monitors and four USB sockets for accessories. While offering technical options, the device is primarily focused on colours, with names like Lowkey Grey and Zen Green likely to appeal to Gen Z students heading back to college or university.
Lenovo has not released the full price list for the IdeaPad Vibe, but it starts at $699 in the US, the same as the MacBook Neo, so it is likely to be £699 when it launches in the UK.
