HBO Max has finally launched in the UK, six years after its US debut, making it the last European country to gain access to the streaming service. The platform brings UK streaming premieres of Oscar-winning films One Battle After Another and Sinners, and the highly-anticipated Harry Potter TV series will arrive this Christmas.
Home to acclaimed shows such as Succession, The White Lotus, The Last of Us and Game of Thrones, HBO Max is the only place to stream the medical drama The Pitt. The service offers four plans, starting with a Basic ad-supported tier at £4.99 per month. Higher tiers include Standard and Premium, with the latter required for Warner Bros' latest theatrical releases. A TNT Sports-only subscription is also available.
Amazon Prime customers can subscribe via Prime Channels for convenience, though the Premium tier is not available through this route. Sky's Ultimate TV package, starting at £22 per month, bundles Sky TV with Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max, discovery+ and Hayu (from 2026). Individually, these services cost £26.95, making the bundle a cost-effective option for those wanting multiple platforms.
Existing Sky and Now subscribers get HBO Max included. Now's £9.99 Entertainment membership now includes HBO Max with ads, with ad-free options via Now Boost and Ultra Boost. Sky's Ultimate TV packages on Sky Stream, Sky Glass and Sky Q also include the ad-based tier at no extra cost. For those only interested in HBO originals, a direct £4.99 subscription remains the cheapest option.
HBO Max's catalogue includes HBO originals, Max originals and Warner Bros box sets, such as Euphoria, Station Eleven, House of the Dragon, The Sopranos, The Wire and Veep. Friends has also returned to UK streaming after leaving Netflix. Notable new arrivals include The Pitt, a Golden Globe and Emmy-winning medical drama set over a single 15-hour shift, and the upcoming third season of Euphoria, which follows characters beyond high school.
