Google appears to be preparing to release a new wearable device called the Fitbit Edge, which could make current fitness trackers look hugely inferior. As spotted by Android Headlines, the new device may replace the current Fitbit Charge 6.
Design and Features
Although not confirmed, it's thought the Edge will feature a refreshed design with a large colour screen, along with a week-long battery life and full compatibility with both Android and iPhones. Along with tracking steps, exercise and heart rate, it's believed the device will also offer full GPS for more precise data, plus bonus extras such as an altimeter for checking elevation when hiking, running and walking.
A number of apps could also feature, including direct access to Google Maps and YouTube Music. It appears it will also link directly to Google Health, allowing users to view data on their overall health and fitness levels.
Colours, Price and Availability
Android Headlines reckons it will come in several colours, including black, green, and orange, with prices expected to be around £120. There's no word on when Google will officially release the device, but it could be here before the end of the month.
If correct, the Fitbit Edge will join the Fitbit Air in the current lineup. That screen-free device was announced earlier this year and offers a more simplified and lightweight user experience. If Google does announce a new wearable, this article will be updated with more details.
