Enzo Fernandez's partner, Valu Cervantes, has stated she is content with whatever decision the Chelsea midfielder makes regarding his future this summer. The 25-year-old has been strongly linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge, with his agent Javier Pastore recently revealing that Fernandez is exploring his options to leave the club. However, Pastore also emphasized that Fernandez's immediate focus is on representing Argentina at the World Cup.
Cervantes Speaks Out on Transfer Speculation
Speaking to El Chiringuito while supporting Fernandez in North America, Cervantes made her stance clear: "No honestly, it's fine. My son was born in England and they go to school there, so I'm very happy. Any team is fine with me. Whichever team it is, I'll be fine." When asked if a move to Real Madrid would be different, she added: "No for me the teams are the same."
Real Madrid Denies Interest
Her comments come after Real Madrid issued a firm statement denying any pursuit of the Argentine midfielder. The Spanish club said on their website: "In light of the reports and statements that have appeared in recent days regarding an alleged interest from Real Madrid CF in the player Enzo Fernandez, the club wishes to state that it has not made any effort, either direct or indirect, to sign the aforementioned player and, likewise, has no intention of undertaking such an operation."
The statement continued: "Real Madrid wishes to express its utmost respect for Enzo Fernandez, a great footballer whose career and quality are widely known, as well as for Chelsea FC, a club with which it maintains an excellent institutional relationship. Precisely because of the respect that an entity like Chelsea FC deserves and because of the principles of institutional loyalty that have always governed the actions of Real Madrid, the club considers it necessary to categorically deny speculations that are unfounded and do not correspond to reality."
Fernandez's Contract and World Cup Campaign
Fernandez joined Chelsea from Benfica in January 2023 for a fee of £107 million, signing a contract that runs until 2032. He is currently representing Argentina at the World Cup, where they will face Egypt in the round of 16 on Tuesday at 5pm BST. Argentina advanced after a 3-2 extra-time victory over Cape Verde.
