Chelsea are set to bank £115m through the sales of exiled duo Liam Delap and Nicolas Jackson. The pair of strikers are close to signing for Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa respectively.
Delap set for Forest medical
Delap's departure is more advanced, with the 23-year-old set to have a medical at Forest ahead of completing a move worth up to £50m. It comes just one year after Chelsea paid Ipswich £30m for his services, and despite Delap only scoring three goals in 49 appearances, the Blues will make a significant profit.
The deal is made up of an initial £45m fee plus £5m in potential add-ons. Delap recently lost his No.9 shirt to Joao Pedro and like Jackson has been training away from Xabi Alonso's first-team squad with other transfer-listed players.
Jackson heading to Villa
Jackson is set to follow Delap out of Stamford Bridge, with Villa indicating their willingness to meet Chelsea's £65m asking price. Unai Emery's side are looking to replace Ollie Watkins, who wants to join Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal.
The sum would see Jackson become Villa's record signing. Having joined Chelsea from Villarreal for £32m in the summer of 2023, the Senegal international has scored 30 goals in 81 appearances for the Blues.
Jackson, 25, spent last season on loan at Bayern Munich, netting 11 times for the German giants while serving as Harry Kane's backup. Bayern turned down the option to sign him permanently for £56m.
Funds for further moves
The departures of Delap and Jackson are set to fund Chelsea's spending in the final days of the summer transfer window. Enzo Fernandez could also leave, as Manchester City are weighing up a £120m bid for the midfielder.
Alonso is understood to be keen on bringing in Bournemouth's Alex Scott as a replacement if Fernandez is sold. Last month, Chelsea saw a bid of £64m rejected by Bournemouth.
When quizzed on Fernandez's future following Monday's 3-2 win away to Fulham, Alonso told BBC Radio 5 Live: "In football, I am not surprised by anything. We will see. My wish is that we know what will happen for the future but we will see this week."
The Spaniard isn't keen to talk about transfers, with Monday's 11pm deadline drawing closer. Ahead of Chelsea's Carabao Cup second-round tie at home to Luton on Thursday, Alonso said: "About transfers, personal situations, I am not the one to ask. I don't know."
