Naomi Watts has posted an emotional 16th birthday tribute to her youngest child, Kai, on Instagram. The 56-year-old British-Australian actress shared a photograph of herself and Kai holding hands, both dressed up for a lavish event, along with a baby picture of Kai.
In the caption, Watts wrote: 'Darling Kai. Happy sweet sixteen. Your sweetness is pure and I'm the luckiest mommy in the world and that world is SO lucky that you are here!!' She added: 'You blow me away with your wild spirit, strength and yes your soft sweetness too. You even let me post a baby picture!! I thank my lucky stars I get to be your mom. I Love you to the moon.'
Watts shares Kai and son Sasha, 17, with her ex-partner, American actor Liev Schreiber, from whom she amicably split in 2016 after 11 years together. Schreiber has since married Taylor Neisen, while Watts went on to marry Billy Crudup.
Watts and Crudup, who met on the set of the 2017 Netflix series Gypsy, married in a modest ceremony at a New York courthouse in June 2023. They celebrated with a larger ceremony in Mexico the following year, attended by family and friends including Nicole Kidman and Isla Fisher. Kai and Watts's niece Ruby served as bridesmaids, while Sasha and Crudup's son William were also in the wedding party.
In October, Watts gave a rare insight into her relationship with Crudup, revealing they celebrated her 56th birthday playing pickleball followed by a couples massage. She described it as 'one of my all time favourites' and said she was 'grateful beyond words'.
