Arsenal winger Noni Madueke is being targeted by both Atletico Madrid and Juventus ahead of a potential exit. The 24-year-old England winger was signed from Chelsea in a £50m deal last summer.
Madueke has had an inconsistent spell in North London, scoring eight goals in 43 appearances in all competitions as Arsenal won the Premier League. However, his opportunities have been limited this term, with just 27 minutes of action to his name in the league.
Loss of England spot and growing interest
That form has seen Madueke lose his spot in the England squad under Thomas Tuchel. His lack of action has, however, seen a number of clubs consider a move for him. According to The Telegraph, both Juventus and Atletico Madrid are long-term admirers and could look to make a move.
It is suggested that any deal would be a loan as opposed to a permanent deal, with the winger still having just under four years left on his contract with the Gunners.
Arsenal's summer attack reshuffle
A potential exit could also come after a summer in which Arsenal reshuffled their attack. Gabriel Martinelli left in a switch to Saudi club Al-Hilal, while Leandro Trossard was sold to Besiktas. The Gunners moved for Greek forward Christos Tzolis as a replacement.
Speaking ahead of the window, former Arsenal star Emmanuel Petit suggested that the club needed to cash-in on Madueke. As quoted by talkSPORT, he said: “I think it’s easy to know what Arsenal are missing, for me it’s wingers.
“You need to have strong and powerful wingers with technical skills that can make a difference on the wings. But before bringing in new players, they have to show some players the exit door too…
“For me the likes of Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus. I don’t know about Viktor Gyokeres because he just came into the club.
“Leandro Trossard, I would keep him. But Noni Madueke, for me, isn’t good enough, I’m sorry to say that, but he must do much more than that to improve.
“But we definitely need wingers and probably one striker with pace, technical skills, great movement. We need to improve up front.”
Madueke's current situation
After losing his spot in the England squad, Madueke has been one of those to remain in North London. Mikel Arteta’s side will be back in action this weekend as they take on Leeds at the Emirates Stadium.
