A teenager who left school at 16 has transformed a side hustle into a six-figure resale business, enabling him to travel the world. Leon Scott, now 18, from Ayr, Scotland, has generated more than £500,000 in revenue by selling pre-owned clothing, funding holidays in Singapore, Thailand, and a trip to Amsterdam with his grandmother.
Early Beginnings
Leon's entrepreneurial journey started at age 13, selling sweets in the school playground. Within a year, he progressed to selling pre-owned clothes on Vinted and eBay, earning around £25 per week. By 16, his monthly revenue had reached £3,000 while he was still attending school. He decided to take a 'leap of faith' and leave education to focus on his business.
Rapid Growth with Live Streaming
In early 2024, Leon began using Tilt, a live-streaming auction app. That year, he made £25,000, which soared to £560,000 in 2025. So far in 2026, his sales are approaching £400,000. His operation has expanded from his grandmother's spare room to a dedicated 3,000-square-foot unit.
Daily Operations
Leon's typical day starts late morning, packing orders from the previous night. By 9pm, he begins live-streaming auctions, selling 30 to 60 items per hour with 15-second auctions starting at £1. His most expensive sale was a new-with-tags Moncler jacket for £780. Streams last two to three hours on weekdays and up to seven hours on weekends, fueled by coffee.
Reflections and Advice
Leon says he 'couldn't be happier' with his decision to leave education. 'Just the thought of being trapped away in a college or university or even in an office, and then working for someone else … I like the freedom that I've got.' He advises aspiring entrepreneurs: 'It's all just consistency and putting your head down for long enough until it works.'
