Liverpool restaurant for sale for £145,000 four months after opening

Istanbul Breeze, a family-run Turkish and Mediterranean restaurant in Liverpool's Queen Square, has been put up for sale with a leasehold price of £145,000, just four months after it opened.

The restaurant took over the former premises of Brazilian steakhouse Copacabana in July, refreshing the site with a new look and an al fresco dining area. Located next to ASK Italian, it offers a menu inspired by authentic Turkish and Mediterranean cuisine, including traditional recipes passed down through generations. Dishes include hot and cold mezes such as Patlıcan Tarator, Ali Nazik Kebab, grilled halloumi and Turkish köfte.

Owner's original vision

Owner Reza Nowrouzi previously told the ECHO: "Turkish hospitality is about making every guest feel like family. So many people return from Turkey with wonderful memories of the food, atmosphere, and warmth of the welcome. We want to recreate that feeling here in the heart of Liverpool.

"Istanbul Breeze may be a hidden gem today, but with its beautiful setting, authentic food, and space for dining and celebrations, we hope it will not remain hidden for long."

However, the restaurant has now been listed on Rightbiz. The ECHO has repeatedly reached out to the owners for clarity on the restaurant's future over a number of weeks, but has not been able to get an answer.

Prime city centre location

The listing states: "This popular and successful restaurant is located in the food court of Queens Square, Liverpool city centre.

"Close by are well-known names in the hospitality business, i.e., Nando's and ASK restaurant. Due to its prominent location in the city centre, it attracts many tourists and locals alike."

Istanbul Breeze is one of the latest openings at Queen Square, following confirmation that the new restaurant Elixir would move into the premises previously occupied by Tapas Revolution.

Recent changes at Queen Square

In 2021, Tapas Revolution opened a 132-seat venue complete with a Spanish-style terrace that could accommodate more than 100 people for outdoor food and drinks. The restaurant has since closed. Before then, the site was occupied by La Tasca.

It was later rebranded and relaunched by the Spanish Restaurant Group under the Tapas Revolution name. Elixir, a restaurant which has already established itself in Oxton Village, Wirral, has taken over and promises the area will "be booming".
