Wynsors World of Shoes is closing 17 stores across the UK, with closing-down sales now underway at affected branches. The British shoe chain is reducing its store estate, offering shoppers discounts of up to 60% on remaining stock.
Discounts at affected branches
At the Crewe branch, customers can currently get up to 60% off hiking boots, while other footwear is reduced by up to 50%. The Gateshead store is offering major reductions, including 50% off children's bags, with some available for as little as £3. Girls' boots have been reduced by 40%.
Shoppers at the Rochdale branch have been greeted by an "everything must go" sale, with discounts of up to 50%. Reductions apply to everything from trainers and boots to children's shoes and accessories.
Reason for closures
The closures come after Wynsors' private equity owner, Modella Capital, warned earlier this summer about job cuts and changes to its store estate. Exact closing dates for the 17 branches have not yet been confirmed.
Wynsors previously said: "It's with sadness that we announce that certain Wynsors stores will be closing their doors. We'd like to say a huge thank you to all of our customers who have shopped with us and supported the store over the years. Your support has meant so much to the whole team."

The 17 stores listed for closure are Crewe, Leeds, Sheffield, Wakefield, Fleetwood, Burnley, Oldham, Salford, Bury, Rochdale, Hanley, Birkenhead, Bootle, Bacup, Bolton, Gateshead and Sunderland.
The closures come during another difficult year for Britain's high streets, with a number of well-known retailers cutting back their store estates. Wynsors continues to trade from its remaining stores and online.
