Walkers has replaced traditional crisp packets with a new 140g square-shaped tube for its MAX range, and Doritos are also available in the new format. Both brands are owned by PepsiCo.
New packaging, same brands
The tubes were spotted in UK convenience stores, with prices at TG Jones (formerly WH Smith) for £2.99 and SPAR for £1.95. Flavours include Paprika Walkers MAX and Jalapeno & Cheese, while Doritos offers Tangy Cheese and Chilli Heatwave.
Shopper reactions
Social media users have mixed feelings. Some say they 'need' them, while others complain about the size. Comments include 'New packaging, less crisps. Oh what a surprise,' and '140g if that's replacing the bags that were 200g now 180g.' Another user wrote: 'In boxes so they can distract you from the fact that you get almost 1/3 less than in a packet.'
A SPAR store in Dalbeattie, Scotland, shared on Facebook that the tubs have 'officially landed' and are 'already causing a stir'.
