Waitrose has issued a warning over one of its food products, advising customers not to consume it because it may contain pieces of hard plastic and metal.
The supermarket has recalled Waitrose & Partners 8 Chocolate Chip Brioche Rolls as "they may contain pieces of hard plastic and metal, making them unsafe to eat". Shoppers who have bought the product are asked to return it to the store for a full refund.
Product details and recall notice
The affected chocolate chip brioche rolls come in a pack of eight with a Best Before date of July 26, 2026, and batch code B26177. Waitrose said in its warning: "We are recalling Waitrose & Partners 8 Chocolate Chip Brioche Rolls due to metal & hard plastic contamination. Do not consume."
Customers are instructed to package up the item and return it to any Waitrose & Partners branch for a refund. The supermarket apologised for the inconvenience.
Food Standards Agency alert
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) also shared the recall notice, stating: "Waitrose & Partners are recalling the above product. Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling this product." The FSA advised customers not to eat the product and to return it for a full refund. This recall follows a recent alert over Doritos Chilli Heatwave tortilla chips, which were recalled due to a packaging error that could pose a health risk to allergy sufferers. Some packs may have contained Tangy Cheese seasoning instead, which contains milk, and were incorrectly labelled.
