Vodafone TV launches in UK with free option for some users

Vodafone has officially launched its new television platform in the UK, adding a fresh competitor to the market alongside Sky, BT and Virgin Media. The mobile and broadband provider first announced Vodafone TV last month, and has now confirmed pricing and availability details.

Pricing and free access for Pro Broadband customers

Broadband and mobile customers can sign up today and receive the box immediately. Those on a Vodafone Pro Broadband plan who sign up before the end of October can get full access at no extra cost, as the service is currently included with the plan.

For those without Pro Broadband, a basic TV plan costs £10 per month and includes more than 100 channels and 300 games. The box also provides access to Freely, a service that delivers live TV over a broadband connection.

Upgrades and additional features

Customers wanting more content can upgrade to a Vodafone TV Essential plan, which adds Netflix and HBO Max for £17 per month. The device supports full 4K and Dolby Vision for enhanced visuals, alongside Dolby Atmos for cinematic audio.

Vodafone TV runs on Android, giving users access to thousands of games through the Google Play Store. The company also promises a more intuitive user interface designed to make entertainment feel effortless and help families find content more quickly.

Switching incentive and customer research

Vodafone is offering an incentive for customers moving from rival services. Those switching to Vodafone TV & Broadband can receive up to £300 credited to their account towards early leaving fees.

Rob Winterschladen, Consumer Director at VodafoneThree, said: “Households are dealing with a TV setup that’s become far too complicated – juggling multiple apps, long channel bundles and services they often don’t use.

“Our research shows that more than a third of people haven’t changed their TV provider in the last five years, with the perceived hassle of switching a big blocker and, as a result, they are still paying for features that should be standard.

“Vodafone TV gives customers a smarter alternative: one simple, intuitive experience that brings their favourite entertainment together and helps them cut out unnecessary costs.”
